Track Cycling
Overview
This module documents track cycling as a discipline within the Event and Membership System. It serves as both a domain knowledge base and a foundation for designing the system’s track cycling event administration capabilities.
Track cycling takes place on a velodrome — an oval track with banked turns — and encompasses a wide variety of race formats: individual time trials, head-to-head sprints, endurance races scored by points or laps, team events, and multi-discipline composite competitions.
Regulatory Framework
Race formats, rules and procedures are based on:
-
UCI Track Cycling Regulations — the primary authority as the international governing body
-
Cycling South Africa (CSA) Regulations — supplementary rules for South African events and local race formats
Contents
-
Events — descriptions and basic rules for each track cycling discipline
-
Event Configuration — how track events map to the EMS entity model
